#8 Amazing Skincare Benefits Of Aloe Vera

What’s the one natural beauty product all beauty bloggers swear by? That’d be Aloe Vera. This tropical plant is known for its multiple uses and health benefits. In fact, it’s the gel that does the trick. Fortunately, you don’t need an actual Aloe Vera plant to enjoy its benefits. You can buy the gel at a lot of drugstores and health and food shops, and it’s entirely affordable!

In this post, I’ve summed up the most popular skincare uses for Aloe Vera which will make you ask yourself: why do I not own this amazing product yet?!

#8 Amazing Skincare Uses of Aloe Vera (TCOADG)

1. Treating skin conditions

Aloe Vera gel is a combination of vitamins, minerals, acids which makes it a great remedy for skin conditions (this is also the most common use of Aloe Vera gel).

For centuries people have been using Aloe Vera gel for treating minor cuts, soothing rashes, treating minor (sun)burns, accelerate wound healing, reducing infections and many other skin conditions. The gel is cooling and anti-inflammatory which makes it great for treating sunburns and soothing the skin. This sounds like the kind of product your grandma would pull out of her kitchen cabinet for any little problem, right…? It’s a must-have home remedy!

(If this is your first time using Aloe Vera: always do a patch-test on your hand before applying the gel on your face. Just to make sure you’re not allergic!)

2. Hair growth

Aloe Vera contains proteolytic enzymes which repair the dead cells on your scalp and maintains its pH balance. This is why many people claim that applying the gel on their scalp (or using it as a conditioner) makes their hair grow faster. It has not been proven by any researches yet, but we’d like to believe it, don’t we? Also, what’s the harm?

Besides hair growth, Aloe Vera is believed to do many more wonders to your hair: it relieves an itchy scalp and significantly reduces dandruff. After using the gel as a conditioner, it will leave your hair smooth and silky. I say it’s worth the try, isn’t it?

3. Make-up Remover

It might be a little weird to think about: using a gel as a make-up remover. Honestly, it’s not something I would try out myself but there are people who did, and they’re loving it! The gel is very gentle and not harmful at all for the delicate skin around your eyes, the cooling ingredients also reduce the redness on your skin (e.g. acne scars, spots, rosea).

Just apply some gel on a cotton ball/ pad and use it like you’d use any make-up remover.

4.  Exfoliator

Aloe Vera gel works great as an exfoliator (homemade scrub) and it’s so easy! Just mix the gel with brown sugar (brown sugar is rough and works better as a scrub than normal sugar). Be careful not to exfoliate too much though, 2 times a week is all your face needs.

5. Skin brightener

Aloe Vera gel is often used as a skin brightener in the South-Asian countries. It might not be as effective as lemon juice but it’s way less damaging, which is exactly what you need if you want to brighten scars or blemishes on your face.  All you have to do is apply the gel to your flaws every night (or morning too, if you’re not going to wear make-up) and stay consistent for a few weeks to see a significant change.

6. Anti-Aging

If you’ve ever applied Aloe Vera on your face or body, you’ll know that it tightens after a few minutes. But how does that fight aging? Aloe Vera helps to rebuild collagen (more of it and faster) which controls the aging process of your skin. Aloe Vera also contains vitamin E which will keep your skin looking youthful and prevent premature signs of aging. Some even claim that Aloe Vera works better than anti-aging products…

Aloe Vera moisturizer

7. Overnight Mask

Because of its soothing and moisturizing ingredients, Aloe Vera gel works great as an overnight mask. The gel will significantly reduce redness and scars and you’ll wake up with a healthy, glowing skin. Isn’t that what we all want?

8. Moisturizer

Many models swear by Aloe Vera as their go-to moisturizer. The gel increases the water content in your skin and leaves it hydrated and non-greasy. This is perfect for people with an oily or acne-prone skin.

And that was it! I hope this post convinced you that Aloe Vera should be a part of your skincare routine, because you’re missing out on some great benefits! Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried Aloe Vera on your face and how you experienced it.

  • Using Aloe Vera on your skin is safe, but do not take it internally!
  • If you’re considering to buy Aloe Vera gel, make sure you buy it in an actual certificated drugstore/ health store instead of on some strange online webshop (for your own health!)

Review: Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Schermafbeelding 2018-01-18 om 15.56.23E

Hi guys!

Today I’ll be reviewing the Estée Lauder Double Wear (Stay-In-Place) foundation. I bought this foundation a year ago during my holidays in the USA, I can’t exactly recall in which city I bought the foundation but I do remember buying it at Sephora. The original Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation comes in a heavy, frosted glass bottle without a pump or anything, so I used the pump of an old Smashbox foundation and placed it on my new foundation. However, Estée Lauder does sell its own pumps for €4.

Schermafbeelding 2018-01-18 om 16.29.02.png

Now I would usually not impulse-buy a €44 high-end foundation which I don’t even need, but ya know, I did it anyways and I’m happy I did. I’ve been in love with this foundation ever since I’ve worn it for the first time. I  have some dark spots on my face which I usually cover up with concealer but with the Double Wear foundation, I don’t even need to cover up my spots. This foundation has a great full coverage and another plus: it really does stay on all day (or longer).

The Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation is available in 38 (!) shades, so make sure you get the shade that really matches your skin. The shade I own is 4W1 (Honey Bronze).  The foundation is suitable for any skin type and any kind of weather.

I think paying €44 for a foundation like this, is a great investment. I bought this foundation a year ago and there’s still more than half left. Obviously, I don’t wear this foundation to school every single day but you don’t even need a lot of it when you’re applying it to your face. I would definitely recommend this foundation!

Shade: 4W1 Honey Bronze
Finish: Matte
Coverage: Full
Price: US $42 / EU €44

My #5 fave lipsticks + why

#5 favorite lipsticks + why (3)

Good morning pretty ones!

Do you also love buying new lipsticks, even though you have an entire stack of old lipsticks at home? If you’re as addicted to lipsticks, lipglosses and lip balms as I am, definitely keep reading! Today I’ll be showing you my top #5 favorite lipsticks + a short review.

#1 Clinique + Jonathan Adler Pop Lip Colour

I always thought that Clinique lipsticks were way overpriced for its quality but turns out, I was so wrong. Past November, I bought the Clinique miniature skincare set for €16. The set included:

– Smart Custom-Repair Moisturizer SPF15- day cream 7 ml
– Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer – night cream 7 ml
– Smart Custom-Repair Serum 7 ml
– Take The Day Off Makeup Remover 30 ml
– Liquid Facial Soap Mild 15 ml
– Pop Lip Colour & Primer Lipstick ( 14 Plum Pop )
– High Impact Mascara ( 01 Black ) 3,5 ml

If you’d like a review of another product in the set below, let me know!

Clinique + Jonathan Adler

And I immediately fell in love with the Pop Lip Colour lipstick, in shade 14 Plum Pop. It does not dry out or turn darker after a few hours, in fact, the lipstick is really moisturizing. Unfortunately, the Pop Lip Colour doesn’t seem long-lasting to me. I’ve worn the lipstick for an entire day at school (09:00 – 18:00)  and had to keep re-applying after I drank or ate something. I drink a lot of water throughout the day so it was really inconvenient. But besides that, I love the colour and feeling this lipstick brings along

Shade: Plum Pop
Finish: Satin
Coverage: Full
Price: US $18.50 / EU € 23,00

#2 DIOR Couture Colour Lipstick Comfort & Wear

I actually bought this lipstick a few days ago, because I still had a gift card to use. If I didn’t have the gift card, I probably wouldn’t even look at these kinds of high-end lipsticks. Let’s be honest, would you be willing to pay €38 for a lipstick? I know I wouldn’t.

Anyways, I do love it. The lipstick I bought is in the shade 964 Ambitious Matte. It’s long-lasting and the name already says it: it’s pretty comforting to wear. The lipstick doesn’t dry out my lips but it doesn’t feel heavy or too much either. Besides, it’s highly pigmented which I really like since my lips are naturally a little dark.

If you’re able to spend a little more on make-up than most of us, I’d definitely recommend this lipstick. But I’m convinced that there are much cheaper, similar lipsticks out there with the same quality (e.g. a classic Chanel lipstick costs €33 ).

Shade: 964 Ambitious Matte
Finish: Matte
Coverage: Full
Price: US $37 / EU €38

#3 KIKO Milano Smart Fusion Lipstick

I am so in love with KIKO Milano. In a short time, KIKO grew to be one of the most popular budget/quality make-up brand. KIKO Milano has a big assortment, from skincare to nail polish…One of the products I love most is the KIKO Milano Smart Fusion Lipstick. I keep buying this lipstick over and over again because it’s simply amazing.
The Smart Fusion lipsticks are rich and nourishing for your lips and leaves a creamy finish (all – day – long)!
The lipstick I own is in the shade 434, which appears to be light brownish. If you’re looking for a high-quality budget lipstick, give this one a try!
Shade: 434
Finish: Bright
Coverage: Medium
Price: US $6 / EU €3,95 / UK £3,90

 #4 MAC Spirit Lipstick

Of course, MAC couldn’t stay behind on my list of favorite lipsticks. To be honest, I only own 4 MAC lipsticks. But the MAC Spirit is one of my faves. This highly-pigmented lipstick has a satin finish and comes with a caramel kinda colour, which is a tiny bit darker than my natural lip colour. The lipstick seems matte but feels hydrating and soft on the lips.  It’s definitely worth checking out!
Shade:Spirit A86
Coverage:Medium- full
Price: EU €19,50 / UK £16,50

#5 Lakmé 9 to 5 Primer + Matte lip color

This lipstick might not be as popular as the other lipsticks I mentioned, that’s because Lakmé is an Indian brand and it’s not available in all countries. However, I still want to give a short review because I adore this lipstick too much.
The lipstick I own is in the shade called “Hazel Rush”, which looks a lot like dark-brown. It comes with a matte finish and lasts around 12 hours. I really love the highly-pigmented colour and smooth application. If you ever see this brand, it’s worth checking out!
Shade: Hazel Rush
Finish: Matte
Coverage: Full

Price: EU €6,15 / UK £5,50 / IND ₹480.00 / $7,50

And these were my 5 favorite lipsticks, I hope you liked the post! What’s your favorite lipstick? Comment below!

Hi guys!

As you guys might have noticed, my previous post was all about Smashbox. What exactly is Smashbox and why do I seem so obsessed with it?

I have been using Sephora’s foundations and Dior’s BB-creams for a long time but since I can’t find any of these similar products in the Netherlands anymore, I figured it’s time to switch to another brand and try. out something new. I had in mind to buy M.A.C Cosmetics because a lot of celebs use these and it looks absolutely gorgeouson them. So last Friday I went to this shop where, I thought, they sell M.A.C products. My bad, they didn’t. I was kinda disappointed because I really needed a new foundation so the saleslady told me they did sell a similar brand called ‘Smashbox’.

Of course I had heard of this brand before but I didn’t know that these products were just as good; which should be quite neccessary because Smashbox foundations are even more expensive than M.A.C’s. The woman tried some products out on me (foundation, concealer and a setting powder) and the result was absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t even believe that there was an actual foundation out there that really matched my skintone.

The foundation cost 37,- and the concealer cost 23,-. I didn’t really ask about the setting powder because I haven’t finished my own yet (MUA). I was gonna buy the foundation for sure but mom told me to buy the concealer as well because it looked really good. So it would be 60,- in total but I had a gift card for 20,- which my friends gave me for my birthday so I also spent that.

More about Smashbox

What’s this hype about Smashbox? Well, it’s similar to M.A.C cosmetics, made by the Factor-brothers (Max Factor) and currently a part of  Estée Lauder cosmetics. Smashbox had some starting problems because their former PR was drugged and raped by someone who happened to be a friend of the Factors. The brand struggled a lot to make its comeback and finally got famous for its primers.

Smashbox cosmetics are especially made for photoshoots because they last longer and are oil-free and give a flawless skin-effect.

Review: Bobbi Brown’s brush-set & eyebrow palette

Hi guys! I thought it’d be time to write a review again…So in this post I’ll be writing about the Bobbi Brown’s brush-set and the Three Color Eyebrow Powder. I bought both products at the Emporium shopping mall in Bangkok.

<img src="image.png" alt="bobbibrown">

The brushes come in a black, soft case with ‘Bobbi Brown’ carved in. These are the brushes:

  • Face blender brush
  • Blush brush
  • Foundation brush
  • Eyeshadow brushes (2)
  • Ultra-fine eyeliner brush
  • Eyebrow brush
  • Concealer brush

On the last picture, I’m holding the face-blending brush. This is the brush I use the most, because I usually combine two shades of foundation.

I’m absolutely loving these brushes! They’re so good! I love the way they feel and they leave such a natural-look on my skin. Also, I can easily recognize them out of all my other brushes by its color.

Three Color Eyebrow Powder

I didn’t take any eyebrow-powder with me to Thailand because I almost finished the one I had back then, so I thought I’d look for a new one in Bangkok. And I succeeded. But because of all the traveling and the rush, the eyebrow powder got a bit damaged. Luckily, I can still use my favorite colors. The middle color is really pigmented, so it’s not a good choice if you’d like to go for a natural (nude) look. But besides that, I love it. The little brush that came with the palette also works great for drawing / smudging your brows!

Thailand 2015

Schermafbeelding 2017-12-18 om 18.05.12

In 2015, I made a 3-weeks road trip through Thailand with my parents. We visited the biggest cities like Bangkok and Phuket and the most beautiful beaches and islands. Honestly, at that moment I didn’t even want to go back home. I also made a short video of our trip.

Of course, we did a lot of shopping and one of the shopping malls we visited was Siam Paragon. Siam Paragon is one of the most expensive (but beautiful) shopping malls in Bangkok. It’s also one of the most popular malls in Thailand.

One of the things I bought at Siam Paragon is the the Clinique Sonic System. I bought this brush for way cheaper than I could in the Netherlands. At the time, the Clinique Sonic System cost €125 in The Netherlands. In Siam Paragon I could get it for 4200 Baht, but because of the discount I bought it for 3600 Baht (€95).  I was also given an extra brush (€20). I have written a review about this brush, which you can find here: review about the Clinique Sonic System

<img src="image.png" alt="text_to_describe_your_image">

I also bought the Bobbi Brown Luxury Brush set, including a soft beautycase and 9 brushes. Click here to read the full review.

“The right tools are just as important as the makeup itself.”- Bobbi Brown

Thailand is a beautiful country which lots of beautiful islands, beaches and nature which you won’t believe unless you see it.

Review: Dior’s Hydralife BB cream

What product am I going to review?

I am going to review quite a high-end product: the Hydralife BB Cream by Dior. I think this was my first BB cream ever and I loved it from the beginning. I got this BB cream as a present and the shade doesn’t entirely match my skin tone, which is why I mix it with another foundation. Even though the shade isn’t right, I love the coverage this BB cream gives me. My shade is called ‘Sunny Amber’ and it has SPF 30, which might be exactly what you’re looking for!

Dior logo

Dior’s Hydralife Beauty Balm is focused on protecting and hydrating the skin. If you’re looking for a BB cream or foundation that’s really gonna cover up your spots and acne, I wouldn’t recommend this one. This BB cream is suited for all skin types and available in many shades, so make sure you’ve got the right one. Mine looks a little ‘too orange’ on my face, since I already got a darker skin tone.

Package + Feeling<img src="image.png" alt="text_to_describe_your_image">

Dior’s Hydralife BB cream comes in a grey triangular tube (50 ml) . The shade is indicated in a frame which says ‘BB cream’. The tube is quite small and tall. The shape and look of this tube shows it’s a high-end product. It does feel a little heavy on my face, like, I can definitely feel that I’m wearing something. But maybe that’s because I know I don’t have the right shade so it makes me feel uncomfortable.

What did it cost me? + Where can you buy it?

I didn’t buy this BB cream myself, I got it as a present. You can buy it online on Sephora, Dior and Amazon. I think the common price is $56 and €54. It’s quite expensive but let’s be real, it’s Dior. + There’s also a Hydralife eyecream with SPF 20 so if you prefer that, check this out!

<img src="image.png" alt="text_to_describe_your_image">

This is a great BB cream and I’d definitely recommend it to people who aren’t looking for a real coverage, but do want an even skin tone. And the BB cream has SPF 30, which is a huge plus. I do think there are cheaper alternatives with the same results though, so if you think this BB cream is a little too expensive (which I totally understand), there’s so many more!
